Devon experts are helping one of the region’s oldest estates explore more than 1,000 years of historic records to uncover the secrets of their family’s past.

The Courtenay family at Powderham Castle have been based in Devon for more than 800 years, with records of the name dating back to at least the 9th century.

Their grand estate on the River Exe is a popular tourist destination, and is even hosting this year’s Radio 1 Big Weekend.
