It is a heartwarming sight beneath the cold, slate grey skies of County Durham: stirring, patriotic – and quite wonderfully bonkers.
Queen Elizabeth I is waving from a barge, her ruby curls cascading beneath her crown. Behind her, a squadron of First World War Tommies in muddy puttees laughs with five fierce-looking Vikings. To one side, two Roman centurions share a fag.
