For generation after generation, it launched ship after ship – and, in doing so, also launched the career of author Daphne du Maurier.
From the early 19th Century, the building that is now Waterside House – in the village of Polruan, on the River Fowey in Cornwall – was Slade’s Yards, and its flagship schooner was to become the inspiration for Du Maurier’s first novel.
