In a devastating blow to a northeast Kansas City neighborhood, the historic Scarritt Mansion was destroyed by fire Monday morning.
Fire crews were on-scene hours later Monday morning working to extinguish hot spots inside the William Chick Scarritt residence on Norledge Ave. near N. Indiana Ave.
Crews were originally called to the scene around 5 a.m. Monday to investigate a fire at the home which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
