Quick-thinking park staff resorted to using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation in a desperate attempt to save some prized Koi carp after a “mindless and sickening act” of vandalism.

The fish were in a temporary holding tank while the Imola garden pond they are usually kept in at Colchester Castle Park was undergoing maintenance work.
