Urquhart CastlePart of the grounds of historic Urquhart Castle has been shrouded in scaffolding to allow for repairs.

Works are ongoing at the terrace and visitor centre to allow masonry work to be undertaken before the high summer season.

The project started in April and is due for completion by the end of June.

Hylton Castle is holding an open day to showcase the Sunderland landmark, ahead of it closing for restoration.

This morning young performers and vocalists from Inspire Stage School, based at the local Castle View Academy, will take to the stage with a programme of dance and song.
