The paper’s 36 Hours in Ottawa report invites visitors to poke around the Château Laurier, sip wine on Sparks Street and get “a consummately Canadian sugar rush” of BeaverTails.

“To get on people’s wish lists, you need articles like this,” says Ottawa Tourism spokeswoman Jantine Van Kregten. “You need concrete examples of why someone would want to go there.”

Cardigan Castle
CARDIGAN Castle has marked its first full year of being open and volunteers, trustees and staff got together in the castle’s 1176 restaurant to celebrate.

Haunting images of an abandoned mansion once used as a school for evacuees in World War Two have revealed the items left in situ after the building fell into disrepair.

Casa Loma gets in trouble for its holiday reindeer | Oye! Times

Christmas may have come and gone, but Casa Loma’s still celebrating, probably because school doesn’t start again until next week. But things might now be a little less festive at Toronto’s famous castle – and not only because it’s January.

Karak Castle reopens its gates after December attack | Jordan Times


AMMAN — Karak Castle was reopened to visitors on Thursday after 18 days of closure following December’s terror attack, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Visiting the fortress on Thursday, two tourists from New Zealand and Italy said they were there in spite of the terrorist attack that took place on December 18. 

Seven security personnel, two civilians and one tourist were killed in the attack. Four attackers were also killed.
