HUNTSVILLE, Alabama – The house is not visible from the road. It sits on a hill, under a grove of trees, and is at the end of a long, winding driveway.
In its day, the late 1820s and beyond, the house was among the most important homes in Madison County. Its original owner, Joseph Laughinghouse, was the son-in-law of Richard Haughton, the first manager of the Bell Cotton Factory.
