Smithsonian Castle to remain closed but museums will be open Thursday – Arts Post – The Washington Post

After an initial assessment, Smithsonian officials said “the most serious structural damage” from Tuesday’s earthquake was to the Smithsonian Castle and a storage facility in Suitland, Md.

The Castle, the oldest building on the National Mall, will remain closed to visitors and staff. It contains an information center, a cafe and administrative offices. Five decorative turrets on the Castle were heavily damaged, according to the Smithsonian.
