Sequins, I’m happy to report, are not their thing. Nor are metallic
wallpapers, purple devoré sofas or any of the other ubiquitous hallmarks of
contemporary hotel design. As I strolled around the darkly panelled public
rooms, an initial feeling of relief was quickly followed by one of joy that
the hotel had fallen into exactly the right hands.
