The billion-pound value of heritage to the North East economy is calculated in a new report.
The value of the sector to the region is revealed in Heritage Counts 2016, from Historic England, which draws on the latest research figures.
Heritage tourism generated an annual spend of £484m by domestic and international visitors in the region.
But heritage is worth £1 billion in GVA (gross value added) to the regional economy when indirect and linked factors are included.<... (View original article)
